Welcome to the official website of Girlguiding Norfolk. We have 8,200 members from our youngest Rainbows (aged 5-7), right through to Brownies (age 7-10), Guides (10-14), Senior Section (14-25) Adult Leaders (18-65) and Trefoil Guild.
We’re proud to be part of Girlguiding UK – the largest youth organisation in the UK - which enables girls and young women to develop their potential and to make a difference to the world.

At 1st Toftwood Rainbows last week a bit of history was
made. Rainbow Amber Curry made her promise at the same Rainbow pack her mum
attended when she was a little girl. Amber’s mum Martina was one of the
original members when the Rainbow pack was first set up in 1992 by leaders Beryl
Howard and Gwen Booty.
Beryl who is still the unit leader said “while it makes me feel a bit old, it is like
having Martina back again as Amber has the same smile and is as keen to learn
as her mum. It is also nice that Martina got so much out of Rainbows that she
wanted her daughter to come as well and that when she is old enough Amber’s
younger sister will come too.”
On Wednesday 6th January, Kirsty Grimmer,
Alex Ash and Sara Ward were presented with their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award
Badges at a celebratory dinner at The Bridge Restaurant in Acle. The 3 girls
had successfully completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Jean
Stratford along with the girls leaders took great delight in presenting these
prestigious awards. Family and friends were there to watch the presentations
and enjoy the meal that followed. The girls will be attended another more
formal award ceremony at St James Palace in London later in the year.
Congratulations, what a great example to Girl
Guides in Norfolk!
Let’s Talk about sex and
relationships; Leaders’ Guidelines
Following our consultation with
the membership in 2007, in December this year the Let’s Talk about Sex and Relationships guidelines for Leaders will
be launched on the members’ area of www.girlguiding.org.uk.
There will also be an accompanying information sheet for each section, and
another sheet covering camps and residentials. The purpose of these guidelines
and information sheets is to give Leaders clarity about their role, the
confidence to respond to their girls and young women and to help them make
decisions for their units.
My name is Danielle De Cruz & I work for the ASA
(previously known as the Amateur Swimming Association). We are the national
Governing Body for swimming in England and I am the County Swimming
Co-ordinator for Norfolk. I am starting a new project to help Guides and
the Senior Section with the assessment of your swimming badges. I propose to
hire a pool for a few hours, and teachers to carry out these assessments.
