Girlguiding Norfolk Heritage

ggnheritage.pngWe’re extremely proud in Norfolk to have been granted £25,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund Young Roots Project to research the history of guiding in our county. This wonderful project, called the Historical Jigsaw, has taken us on a great adventure, allowing us to time travel back through almost 100 years of history. Highlights have included a 1940s Guide camp at Gressenhall, near Dereham, in the summer of 2007, and the recording of many guiding memories via our oral histories mini-project.

With the centenary of Girlguiding UK fast approaching in 2010, we’re adding to our heritage project all the time. The find out more about the Historical Jigsaw and to join in the fun, visit our website at www.girlguidingnorfolkheritage.org.uk

And for information about guiding archives held by Girlguiding Norfolk, contact our county archivist, Kit Tranter, via County Office on 01603 502590.
