Join the Library!
Friday, 02 December 2011

In January 2012, Norfolk Libraries will be holding our annual Join Up January campaign in an attempt to recruit a record number of new library members.  As such, I would like to get in touch with as many Rainbow, Brownie and Guide units as possible to invite them to come along to our libraries and join up (if they have not done so already of course!) As such, we can offer special visits for whole units and can help them achieve their Book Lover badges or similar.   I am hoping to produce a leaflet with the Library service's offer to Girlguides, and wonder whether there is a way of obtaining contact details for units particularly within the Norwich area or if there is a way that they can be distributed centrally.

Thanks in anticipation,

Rachel

Olympic Games Resource
Tuesday, 29 November 2011

The Olympic and Paralympic Games are coming to London - and Girlguiding UK is preparing to celebrate in style! The brand-new, all-section activity book On Your Marks… is packed with ideas and challenges on the themes of the sports, culture and values of the Games. The resource is supported by a free downloadable event planning toolkit called On Your Marks… Celebrate!, designed to inspire and help Leaders to plan a local Games-themed celebration or join in with a national event. Please be aware that guiding groups in your area may need your support in seeking publicity for their celebrations.

On Your Marks… is available from Trading Service from December (£4.50, code 6050).

On Your Marks… Celebrate! can be downloaded from the members’ area from January 2012.

Girlguiding Long Stratton District Activity Day Read more...
Wednesday, 23 November 2011

At the end of September, about 100 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Senior Section members and Leaders from both Long Stratton and Bunwell got together to have a fun day of activities and complete the Anglia Region's 40th Birthday Challenge Badge. All the activities were based around themes and topics related to the different counties in the Anglia Region. In the morning, the Rainbows made and decorated windmills, sky bottles and woollen dollies. They played lots of games and sang songs before all the other Brownies and Guides arrived for a Giant Picnic outside. Before the Rainbows left they all tried Lincolnshire sausage and received their badge.
