There are a wide range of qualifications available for volunteers working Girlguiding.

The Leadership Qualification is for volunteers who would like to become unit leaders and assistant leaders. You will learn how to run a high quality unit, provide a great programme and support your girls as a leader.

The Young Leader Qualification is for members of the Senior Section aged 14-18, who are working with Rainbows, Brownies or Guides. It recognises the commitment, support and skills Young Leaders give to guiding. It also helps them to support the girls in the unit to have a fantastic time.

For many girls (and leaders), residential trips are the most important part of their guiding experience. The Going Away With scheme helps you plan trips and ensures the safety of your girls away from home. There is a basic Going Away With Licence and additional modules depending on your responsibilities during residential trips. Travelling Abroad and Catering are two additional options.

If you enjoy outdoor adventures there are a number of schemes which involve qualifications in activities such as canoeing, climbing and abseiling, walking, rowing and narrow boating. These will enable you to lead girls on adventures that will grow their confidence, teamworking and leadership skills.

It is really important that we all take responsibility to keep girls safe. Training in Safe Space and First Aid ensure that volunteers are aware of their responsibilities and are kept up to date.
