Celebration of 80 of the Queen’s Guide awardDay one’s celebration was a wonderful day and day two starts soon!
Thanks for an amazing display from the ARC – arranged by Helen Green, our county archivist, and the very hard-working volunteers who spend every Monday at the ARC. Without the inspiration and their volunteer hours, we could not have created this wonderful display.
10 years of being able to hold uniforms, badges, handbooks, badge books, annuals and everything else to do with Guiding in a unique venue. If you haven’t visited before, make this year the one where you take a look at the website and book a unit visit! The ARC – Girlguiding Norfolk’s Archive Resource Centre
Theme was Culture and Collaboration – so, like last year we collaborated with the Trefoil Guild and Hautbois to provide “something for everyone”!
The ARC and Trefoil Guild shared an area which delighted visitors with welcome packs for the Trefoil and a knitted swimming costume as part of one of the ARC challenges – how much did it weigh before and after getting wet!
Details on both the Nora project and Guide of Dunkirk were only display, as well as a large birthday cake for the 10th birthday – check out the ARC website for more details.
Hautbois provided the adventurous activities for everyone to take part – tomahawk throwing was especially popular, with archery also an option. Tomahawk throwing proved to be very popular with both young and old – even in the extreme heat!
The GGN part of the stand, was packed with information about joining, younger members and new adults, uma activities and our ‘thank you’ gifts for leaders. We also launch the latest Norfolk challenge badge. Created by Vicky Wardrope, the challenge covers, coast, countryside, culture and city – so which ever part of Girlguiding Norfolk you are from Vicky has thought of you!
You will also notice that the challenge badge outline of “Norfolk” is different – including Lowestoft area because they are one of our 12 divisions.
Lots of friendships made, not just within Guiding, and an extremely hot but fantastic two show days. Well done and thank you to everyone who helped to pitch, lead and strike on this years stand.
Planning for 2027 – has started! If you visited us and want to make more suggestions, please get in touch.
