Central Norfolk Division

Central Norfolk Division is divided into two Districts; Dereham North and Dereham South. These two districts cover an area from Mattishall to Foulsham and Reepham to Shipdham.

Within the Division we have 5 Rainbow units, 3 combined Rainbow and Brownie units, 10 Brownie units, 7 Guide units and 1 Senior Section/Young Leaders unit – a mix of village and town based units meeting in village halls, scout/guide headquarters, church halls and local schools. Units are also supported by an active Trefoil Guild.

Our units offer a wide range of activities for their members responding to what the girls are keen to do, including new experiences, making new friends and learning new skills.

Programme activities are varied such as cooking without using utensils, traditional and international dancing, pond dipping, being creative with recycled materials, learning about the past, parties and celebrations. Outings are always popular, they have included hiring a cinema to see a favourite film, visiting a local farm, attending Big Gig or even more adventurous such as trampolining, High Ropes, climbing, Go Karting, Grass Sledging, archery, crate stacking and Geocaching.

A number of units regularly ‘go away’  on camps and holidays some may use local venues such as sleepover in their unit venue, or somewhere special such as the Guildhall in Norwich or the Sealife Centre in Great Yarmouth. Others have been to Kingswood and Eaton Vale Activity Centres for outdoor fun and frolics and some even further a field such as to France and Ireland.

The units within Central Division also work together to encourage the girls to meet new friends and experience activities beyond their unit. Recently we have celebrated the Brownies Centenary by hiring Dereham Memorial Hall for party games followed by a train journey on MidNorfolk Railway, learnt circus skills and watched the circus in Great Yarmouth, fundraised for our units by ‘Bag Packing’, celebrated the Queens 90th Birthday Party with our own 50’s style party and celebrated Thinking Day using the World Association Programme encouraging us to’Connect’ with our local and international communities.
